WHO HE IS
Andrew Swiger, a University of South Carolina (UofSC) Alumnus, is a midwestern born but Southern raised life long artist. Crediting his grandmother for fostering his creative spark through art, Andrew has always sought out opportunities to learn more about his craft. Although art and creativity is a key tier of his personality he actively seeks out new experiences and skills. This is one of the reasons He joined the Boy Scouts of America and before the age of 18 achieved the rank of Eagle. He believes the steps he took to become an Eagle Scout were the huge factor in the development of his love for learning and hard work.

AFTER HOURS
Throughout most of his life, Andrew has loved nature and participating in various sports and outdoor recreational activities. As an adult that statement rings even more true! An avid hiker and outdoorsman, Andrew has spent weeks over the past 4 years Backpacking sections of the Appalachian trail and dreams of completing a through hike of the 2,182 miles of terrain before the age of 30. Along with his affection for the mountains and valleys he has a passion for the lakes between them! With the need for a bit of adrenaline on the weekend Andrew has taken up Wakeboarding. No stranger to board sports he found exactly what he had been looking for in a sport and immediately fell in love and on his face. Cold or blistering heat, if someone is willing to pull him, you bet you can find him riding any weekend!

BEFORE THE AFTER HOURS
As a graduate from UofSC in the School of Visual Art and Design (SVAD) Andrew learned all the necessary fundamentals of Design and was able to use his elective course slots as an opportunity to learn relative skills to his field. Due to his aptitude for art he took as many courses in: photography, illustration, and Printmaking as possible. He believes that higher learning institutions are what you make of them so he tried to take full advantage of both the time and resources available to him. This mentality is what lead him to seek out as many internships or relative work experiences as possible. By the time he graduated, with a Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) with an emphasis in Graphic Design, he had completed six semesters worth of internships. Andrew credits these experiences for teaching him to be a Designer; he thanks his mentors and professors for their contribution in these experiences as well.

A DESIGNER
As a designer Andrew strives to be a generalist, being able to adapt to the demands of the market or client provides an exciting challenge for him. Naturally more illustrative Andrew enjoys adapting his style to the needs of the project while still creating an original product. Despite his illustrative nature he sees the importance of type and loves to find bold and dynamic type heavy design opportunities. With an increasing level of interest, he is looking forward to more layout design for print publications as a part of his passion projects in the future.

PRINT, IT'S NOT JUST INKJET
Discovering an interest in printmaking in high school, Andrew started out like many others making linoleum block prints. Something about process stuck with him, whether it was the replication or the build of the plate he knew he had to do more! Moving from Lino cuts to plexiglas intaglio and mono prints, by the time he graduated high school he knew he wasn’t done with the medium. In college he learned to refine these processes as well as add Collagraphy and Silk Screen to his quiver. Prior to learning to screenprint Andrew worked at the Half and Half as Production Intern. This exposure to amazing artwork from all over the globe in one brilliant print shot is what got the ball rolling for him as a pressman for screenprint. Fast forward a year in the final semester of college, Andrew takes a volunteer position as a print lab monitor. This allowed him to explore the medium even after classes concluded. He kept this position for a year until his professional obligations required more time. Now Andrew is a pressman for ByFarr Graphic Design, printing high end stationary and small pieces for the firm and their clients needs.
